Parrotfishes are a group of about 95 fish species regarded as a family (Scaridae), or a subfamily (Scarinae) of the wrasses. It can and in many cases will be a little bigger than what is listed. Parrot fishes are edible but are not, as a group, of great economic importance. The color of the parrot cichlid ranges from yellow to red when mature. All measurements are from tip of snout to the tip of tail fin. The beautifully colored parrot fish is known to change its shape, color, and even gender during its life.
